Peter Defined the Industry Standard

or 25+ years, Peter has set the standard for modern headshot photography. He wrote The Headshot and trained the largest network of headshot photographers in the world, all shooting to his methods. The Hurley look is the one every other studio is chasing.

Direction That Puts You at Ease

Most photographers point a camera and hope you land on something usable. We direct you in position and pull a real, natural expression out of you, so you’re never standing there guessing what to do.

Hundreds of 5-Star Google Reviews

The same three things keep coming up. Clients walk in nervous. Peter disarms them, directs them, and makes them laugh. They walk out with the best picture they’ve ever had of themselves.

Your LinkedIn and social profile picture is doing more work than any photo you own

It sits next to every comment you leave, every connection request you send, and every time somebody looks you up before a call. Same photo on your company bio, your conference program, your social media profiles. Most people choose it once and never think about it again.

It’s also the hardest crop. LinkedIn and most platforms render it small and round, so a photo that looks fine at full size can fall apart at the size anyone actually sees it. Framed chest-up and face-dominant, it survives the circle. Framed wider, it doesn’t.

Having your business portrait taken can be intimidating

Peter even has a name for it, picture avoidance syndrome, and he’ll tell you it’s rampant. But when someone says they aren’t “photogenic”, what they usually mean is they don’t look confident in photos. That isn’t a fixed trait. It’s a set of small adjustments nobody has ever shown them.

Being good in front of a camera isn’t your job, it’s ours. We direct the expression out of you, and we’re the experts.

CEO and Executive Headshots

The further up you go, the less say you have in where your photo ends up. It runs with a press release you did not write, a conference program you did not design, the leadership page, the annual report, the article that quotes you once. You choose the image one time and then it stands in for you in rooms you are not in.

It also has to hold up beside your peers. On a leadership page every face is read against the one next to it, and a photo that looked fine on its own becomes the one that does not belong.

We photograph executives at the New York studio, on location at your offices, and in other cities through the network. Whichever way it runs, the direction is the same and so is the file you get back.

Executive Portraits

A headshot is chest-up and face-dominant, built for a profile photo and a leadership page. When the frame opens up to bring in posture, presence, and the room around you, that is a portrait, and it runs as a personal branding session. That session starts with the same standard headshots and builds out from there, and it suits executives and CEOs as readily as it does founders and speakers.

Team Headshots for Companies and Offices

Group Sessions

A team in one place is one photographer in one place. Your people come to the studio, or we set up at your office. Rates come down as the group grows.

  • One photographer shoots the whole group
  • At the studio, or on location at your office
  • New hires can book in later and still match the team

Our Global Associate Photographer Network

A team spread across offices is a different job. We place a photographer trained by Peter in each city you operate in, so everyone matches no matter where they sit.

  • A trained photographer in the cities you operate in
  • One brief and one retouching standard throughout
  • Tell us the scope, we come back with a single quote

How much is a corporate headshot session?

Sessions start at $500. Final retouched images start at $150 each – View Rates

Why are images priced separately from the session fee?

The session fee covers the shoot itself: direction, lighting, multiple looks, and on-the-spot image review. Each image you choose to keep is purchased separately and includes professional retouching and final delivery one week after selection. You only pay for images you’ll actually use, and each one is delivered fully prepped for production.

Can you shoot on-location at our office?

Yes. We are available for on-location shoots.

What is the cost for a multi-location team shoot?

Contact the studio with your locations, head count, and project details. We will discuss logistics and come up with a quote for your project. We will then assign a network photographer in each city, brief them on the look, and hold final retouching to a single standard. Files match across every office: same lighting, same editing standard.

What should I wear for my headshot photo shoot?

Bring a range of options. For corporate sessions: jacket/shirt/tie combinations for men, blouse/dress/jacket combinations for women. Keep jewelry minimal. We have a steamer in the studio for any wrinkles. If it’s not there we can’t shoot it, so it’s always better to err on the side of caution and bring it. For the full rundown for men and women, read our guide to what to wear for headshots.

Do you provide hair and makeup?

Hair and makeup aren’t included in the session fee but are available at the studio as an add-on. Strongly recommended for women. Light grooming for men is available on request. – View Rates

Do you photograph CEO and executive portraits?

Yes. A corporate session covers the headshot, chest-up and built for a profile and a leadership page. If you also need wider portraits, for a feature article, a speaking bio, or an annual report, book a personal branding session instead. It starts with the same standard headshots and then opens the frame up from there.

What is the difference between a headshot and a business portrait?

A headshot is chest-up and face-dominant, framed to survive the small round crop LinkedIn and most platforms use. A portrait is wider and brings in posture, presence, and the room around you. Profiles and leadership pages want the headshot. Feature articles, speaking bios, and annual reports want the portrait. If you need both, a personal branding session produces the whole set in one sitting.

Can you photograph our entire leadership team?

Yes. A leadership team in one place is one photographer in one place, at the studio or on location at your office. Rates come down as the group grows. Contact the studio with your head count and we will come back with a quote.
