John Branham - Photographer

John Branham was called a renaissance man as a kid. He had traveled all over the U.S. and plays several instruments before the age of fifteen. Branham believes this has contributed to his wanting to be different.

He was raised in Columbus, Ohio but spent most of his childhood summers down south. Branham was also a top athlete and was in the top 25 high school prospects in three sports. All the above has contributed to his outgoing, friend making, infectious personality.

In college Branham was introduced to photography and jumped in headfirst. He sought out and worked with mentors Chester Higgins Jr. (NY Times Photographer) and Abdi Roble (sponsored by Leica) who told him he “might have an eye for this”.

Branham ran from the photography business and fled to the corporate world and promptly decided it was not for him. So he grabbed a medium format camera and film and began to travel the world. His travels with his camera showed him he had a voice inside him that had to come out by means of photographs.

Today Branham is the Chairmen of a non profit photography organization with over two thousand members. He has found a new love within photography and its capturing facial expressions. Branhams unquenchable thirst for knowledge brought him to Peter Hurley. Branham explains, “I like to be the best… so I seek out the best and ask for help… that's why I reached out to Peter”. Branham said Peters reply was, “Your stuff looks great!”.

Branham will have his work featured in Rangefinder Magazine in 2009; and he is enthusiastic about meeting people all over the world and just having lunch with them while trading stories and photos. When asked.
