What’s in your toolbox?
October 8th, 2009As an actor years ago I found myself working on perfecting my craft by training and adding different techniques to what I considered my actor’s toolbox. It consisted of techniques that I could reach in and pull out depending upon the needs of a specific scene. I thought the tools in my toolbox were fairly substantial, but I realized that all the hard work was constantly thrown out the window the moment I walked into the room for an audition. Something grabbed a hold of me and my communication with myself wouldn’t let the actor in me do what I needed to do when it mattered most. I found this self talk to be the most limiting factor in my career by far and when I would reach into my toolbox for the solution I would always come up empty. I knew I was taking myself out of the game before I even had the chance to get on the field. This along with picking up a camera and falling in love with photography initiated the demise of my acting career. Looking back I wouldn’t have changed a thing and am so thankful that I got into photography and specifically shooting actor’s headshots. That said, if I could go back and add a tool to my toolbox to get me around the mind chatter that would cripple me in auditions, you better believe I’d use it. Well recently I found that very tool and it lies in a program called Acting Success Now. The information Robert and Michelle Colt have developed in this program is essential for every actor’s arsenal of tools. Having studied their program personally strongly recommend you take advantage of this opportunity. I know that the addition of this information will give you a new perspective on your career and an extremely powerful tool to add to your toolbox as well.
